Dog tail wags have multiple meanings

By Paul Perez September 20, 2022 0 comments

The first thing you need to know is that dogs wag their tails in different ways depending on what they're trying to communicate.

A happy dog will often just let loose with a big, slow, sweeping wag of its tail. This is called a "happy" or "idle" wag and it means that your dog is content, relaxed and feeling good about life.

A dog that's excited or wants attention will usually wag its tail up and down quickly from side to side, sometimes even with some side-to-side swishing added in for good measure. This is called a "panting" or "excitement" wag and it means your dog is eager for something—whether it's food, playtime, attention or whatever else might make your pup feel good at that moment!
